Can a person's diet cure type 2 diabetes?

YES! It is absolutely possible to reverse the effects of type 2 diabetes simply by altering your diet choices. In short, following an extremely low-calorie diet can help balance blood sugar levels back to normal, quickly.

When a person is diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, it could actually mean that you can have a 36% higher chance of early death. In other cases, it can severely affect different parts of your body, such as the heart, the feet, and eyes.

If left uncorrected, type 2 can progress to type1 where the body completely stops producing insulin. Insulin is responsible to regulate the sugar in the blood. Without insulin, there could be excess amounts of sugar in the blood which can cause severe damage to the body, even causing death.

A research done by the Newcastle University proved that a low calorie diet, as low as 800 calories a day, can help cure a person of type 2 diabetes.

The overall idea is that when your body is deprived of the normal amount of food then it starts consuming its own fat especially in and around the organs. There is fat that surrounds the pancreas and, if abnormally dense, it prevents the pancreas to create the necessary insulin.

If diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, the diet followed needs to be very strict. A person needs at least 3 litres of water every day, carbohydrates need to be reduced, sugar eliminated and the amount vegetables eaten daily needs to be increased. There needs to be an exercise routine, performed at least three times a week. The combination of a low calorie diet and exercise will be very helpful to lose excess weight and your glucose levels will be normal within 2 weeks.
