Basically whatever we eat and drink constitutes our diet. Nutrition, on the other hand, involves taking into account the concept of nourishment needed by our bodies in the long run. We can expect a healthy lifestyle if our body is provided with all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients that it requires to function properly.

It is, in fact, a healthy diet that gives our body a good nutrition. Diet and nutrition can make a huge impact on our lives. If we can combine a good physical activity program along with our dieting efforts then it can do wonders for our health. Diet and nutrition can improve the functions of our body especially those related with the cardiovascular section. It can also improve our cognitive performance and mental well being. In addition to this, the wound healing capability of our body is also given a big boost by proper diet and nutrition and, as a result, our chances of getting sick are reduced tremendously. Research has shown that good nutrition significantly reduces the risk of many serious diseases like heart attack, diabetes, cancer, stroke and osteoporosis.

Proper diet and nutrition involve eating a good combination of fruits and vegetables. Dark green and orange vegetables along with peas and beans should be a part of our diet. We should also include calcium rich foods like leafy vegetables, low-fat milk and other dairy products in our diet as they provide a strong foundation within our bones. Protein is also an essential requirement of our body. Lean meat and poultry are considered as the best possible source of protein intake. We can also get protein from fish, nuts, beans and seeds. The intake of saturated fats and sugar should be limited as they expose us to serious cholesterol complications in the long run.
